CEARES

Central European Aeronautical Research Network

The concept of the CEARES project was to establish a well-coordinated network among the research organisations of the Central-European states for sharing the know-how, the latest research results and to be able to find the contact more easily with the European aeronautical industry.

The concept of the CEARES project was to establish a well-coordinated network among the research organisations of the Central-European states for sharing the know-how, the latest research results and to be able to find the contact more easily with the European aeronautical industry. The objective was to bring together research centres and universities from the region and give them the possibility to work together. The main tool is a regional network, where key aeronautical research centres and relevant university departments are invited. The CEARES network members are informed about the capabilities, research activities and research needs of other members through workshops and through the website.

The workshops were quite successful as attracted around 200 participants altogether and besides local and Central-European participants delivering presentations on their own capabilities numerous major European organisations were represented. Representatives of major European organisations like EC EqIMG, Airbus, and SESAR Joint Undertaking were delivering presentations on the European R&D scene explaining the goals to be achieved and strategy to be followed.

The workshops were:

  • Budapest WS held at the EUROCONTROL CRDS facilities on the 6th and 7th of October 2008.
  • Zilina WS held in the Convention Hall of Zilina city in Slovakia, on the 18th and 19th of May, 2009.
  • Bucharest WS held at the National Institute for Aerospace Research “ELIE CARAFOLI” – INCAS, in Bucharest, Romania on the 16th and 17th of September 2009.
  • CEARES-SESAR WS (Budapest) held at EUROCONTROL Budapest, on the 9th of December 2009.
